Jay's talents were noticed at a young age, so he has been famous for a long time and is just starting to show his real passion as a major rockstar. Almost everyone except for himself would die to be him- a young, super-talented, teen heartthrob. Jay, however, just wants to live a normal teenager's life- free, without paparazzi following him and his every move being criticized. Also, his publicists did not allow him to tell his fans he was gay (in order to have more teen female fans), so he has a lot of bottled up feelings. As a result, he started acting out during his worldwide tour. He ruined several pieces of equipment, and was caught having sex backstage with his male backup dancers numerous times. As both a punishment and publicity stunt, Jay's manager enrolled him in a public school in The Middle Of Nowhere, USA, where he has to stay for the rest of high school. Jay pretends to be mad at this, but is actually really excited for the chance. However, he has never gone to a public school before, so his attitude may get him in trouble with other students and teachers.

Being a famous rockstar, Jay is cocky, arrogant, and spoiled. He is mad at being placed in a public school, and is not trying to make any new friends. However, once you get to know him and slide underneath his rude demeanor, Jay is a very nice, funny, caring gentleman who just wants to lead a normal teenager's life and doesn't really care about being famous.
